Brambles Housing Co-operative

Brambles is a housing co-operative based in a vibrant, multicultural but economically poor area of Sheffield. It acts as a focal point for resources and information and as a free meeting space for local groups.

The co-op has been running for many years with members staying from a few months to long-term. It is formed from two neighbouring houses, with vegetable gardens, fruit trees, wildlife garden and a frog pond. The two kitchens have been designated for either vegetarian or vegan use, and meals are generally communal. Residents and visitiors are a mix of genders and social backgrounds with a wide range of skills to share. It is a secure, supportive environment for people to work together and do their own projects. Brambles is ecological and anarchic in focus with no rotas and very few boundaries, but a lot of learning. At times they have vacancies for new members.
